Points to make in your calls or letters:

*Please stop the clearcutting of California's forests-- it's bad for fish and wildlife and is destructive to the visual beauty of our Sierra Communities.

*Our communities are overwhelmingly dependent upon intact, healthy forests rather than timber production.

*Please stop the logging of all old-growth trees. They are a tiny fraction of the forest yet have incredible value as habitat for wildlife and are the legacy that our generation inherited and should be protected for future generations to experience and enjoy.

*Please create adequate buffers to protect our rivers and streams-- 60% of California's water originates in the Sierra Nevada and clean, clear water is essential for maintaining healthy and productive conditions for fish.

Other Options:

1. Call and/or write the Governor insisting on an end to industrial clearcutting in California:

Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of
California, State Capitol, Sacramento, Ca. 95814 / 916-445-2841

2. Write a letter to the editor of any local papers expressing your thoughts on the subject:

The best way to send letters to the Calaveras Enterprise is to email them: editor@calaverasenterprise.com

3. Call and/or write the Calaveras Board of Supervisors insisting on strict rules and regulations to outlaw clearcutting and protect watersheds:

Mountain Ranch Road
San Andreas, Calif. 95249
/ 754-6370 891
